Vega Sicilia Unico Gran Reserva 2014

Super opaque deep ruby purple with a thin pink rim. Intensely aromatic, with ripe plum, fresh orange peel, black licorice, tootsie roll, roasted strawberry, then savory notes of black olive tapenade and desiccated coconut. Medium to medium- body, medium acidity, medium tannins fairly grippy. Palate is much more mute than the nose with red plum and blackberry, slightly hollow midpalate then returning with spice notes: cayenne pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon. Finish is medium plus and spicy. 93 points now, but needs more time to truly peak — possibly another 10-15 years or more.
