Deep ruby in color with slight rim variation. Nose is high intensity with red and black plum, cassis, black cherry syrup, black licorice, slight prunes and stewed raisins, violets, hints of black olive tapenade, black raspberry, fig Newtons. Palate is medium plus acidity, velvety tannins but medium plus grip, stewed plums, black raspberry, black cherry syrup, black licorice, sarsaparilla, cassis, slight asphalt, cherry cola, black plum skin. Showing nicely now but likely to improve with a few more years. Medium finish. 91 points.
