Château Beychevelle Saint-Julien (Grand Cru Classé) 1998

Medium ruby garnet with a pale dusty pink brick rim. Nose is medium plus intensity with black olive, violets, black cherry, hints of soy sauce, red and black plum, hints of cedar, tobacco, cassis, prune, smoked red bell pepper, hints of cocoa. Palate is medium to medium plus acidity, medium tannin but slightly grippy, black cherry, red and black plum and plum skin, black olive, prunes, dried cranberry, hints of tomato leaf or bell pepper. Medium finish, slightly hot. 89+-90 points.
